LOST DOGS OF DALLAS

Tips on how to find your lost dog in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area can be found on this page.

1)  As-Soon-As-Possible, create a flyer with a picture, description, phone number, and offer a non-specific reward.   Description should include: Breed, Color, Gender, Size, Collar color, or any other information which would aid someone in properly identify the pet.   Contact all the shelters and let them know what happened and make a report on a lost pet or a police report if you think that the pet was stolen.  Tell them exact date/time, how the weather was, exact description, what was on the pet, where the pet got lost, and the address or area. If you have picture make a flyer and I would e-mail, fax, or take it to the shelter directly. It would be better if they had it at the shelter.  Post your pet picture on local web sites, and check craigs list often.

2)  Post flyers where they can be seen when people stop at intersections and at local gas stations or convenience stores (get permission first though!).  Don't assume the pet took off in a specific direction.  Distribute flyers to houses/apartments on the major streets in the area where the pet was lost.

3)   Chances are someone in your neighborhood took the animal in, and will probably be looking for you, but if not .. someone may call animal control to pick the pet up.  If they cannot find you, or keep the animal they will take it to a local shelter, animal control, or spca.   If you dog ends up at an animal control, you must find them within three days, because if you do not find them in time they will be euphemized. Also if your dog is a purebred like a Great Dane, German Shepard etc.... look to for a shelter in your area just for purebreds. Whoever possibly may have your dog may think to try there first rather then a shelter. You might want to let your mailman know and construction workers near your area about your dog as well, and have them be on a look out. Give them a flyer.
